Making Gains at School AND at Home: Homework

Homework

Homework in middle school serves a different purpose than in elementary school. In elementary school, homework is a habit in which scholars review and practice material.

In middle school, scholars are gaining access to additional learning time through homework. They are also practicing two critical skills: time management and independence. We are preparing middle schoolers for high school and college persistence, where one of the biggest stumbling blocks is failure to hand in and complete the work.

In middle school, turning in your work must be as natural as breathing! You must insist on 100% completion each day, and incentivize and consequence accordingly. You must leverage parents to get this done.
